The 2018 River Dipping season was made possible in part by generous donations of Okemo Mountain Resort, the State of Vermont's LaRosa Partnership Program, and Endyne Labs.
We continued with our monthly sites and replaced the turbidity and bacterial samples with chloride, taking a look at the potential impacts of road salt on our waterways. Stay tuned for our five-year report, a culmination of the work of many dedicated volunteers.
Keeping an eye on the health of the river takes more than just a grappling hook and a trash bag. The chemistry of the river has an impact on what is able to live in the water, and is influenced by the surrounding geology, land use, bank conditions, and even the trees on the shoreline.
